Destroy the city. That is the meaning of the name of artist and activist Takana Zion.

In fifteen years, Takana has established himself as the Guinean prophet of international reggae. His career has been marked by emblematic albums such as Zion Prophet and Rasta Government, as well as multiple musical collaborations with big names such as Sizzla, Capleton, Bunny Wailers, Manjul and Tiken Jah Fakoly.

In 2021, his album Human Supremacy was met with great enthusiasm and success by his fanbase as well as the French media. This roots album made in Kingston, lead by the strong singles ‘Energy’ (featuring Sizzla), ‘Humble Lion’ and ‘Dirigeants Aveugles’, earned him the title of Best African Artist of the Year at the ‘Victoires du Reggae’ awards and an umpteenth Guinean Music Award as Best Male Artist.

On October 2nd 2022, the day of the anniversary of Guinean independence, more than fifty thousand people gathered at the Conakry stadium for one of Takana’s biggest performances. This symbolic concert was both a musical and human consecration for the artist, which bears witness to his commitment to his people and his country.

Nowadays, Takana is reinventing himself and, alongside his loyal fan base, is taking off towards new musical horizons. His new album Banjo Kafaan (March 3rd 2023, Soulbeats Music) is a surprising gem far from his usual sounds: a clever mix of Afro, r&b and dancehall tinged with blues and even salsa.

A unique musical work through which Takana pays a vibrant tribute to his ancestors and gives his community courage, spirituality, hope and inner peace.
